How was your week? I certainly hope it was better than mine.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted my regular weekly roundup, and I wanted to start fresh in the New Year. I’d envisioned starting off reflecting on a week winter week where I’d begun my time of stillness.
Truth be told, I did have a time of stillness this week. Just not the kind I’d envisioned.
Instead, I’ve been sequestered in my bedroom, not because I’m deep in contemplation, but because I’m avoiding getting sick. Everyone is fine, and mostly recovered (get your booster, if you haven’t yet), and for that I’m truly grateful. I’m not grateful for stupid asthma that means that I need to take extra care about exposure.
Be careful what you wish for
You know that phrase, be careful what you wish for? I’ve made a mental note to be more specific next time. The only thing I’ve really contemplated this week is a line of Pity Party products. There are hats. I might try to get the officialsadbeige lady to hawk them for me.
Anyhow, the time hasn’t gone completely to waste. I’ve spent the week working on behind-the-scenes things that aren’t terribly exciting, but that have been weighing on me. I’ll have something to show for it in the end, so that’s a comfort.
Also a comfort are the silly jokes sent to me by my friends (I’m still welcoming those if you have any), and the fact that this confinement will not last forever. Or even another week.
- Travel—I’m really missing Zagreb cafés this week, so I’m writing about them. It’s part homage to the incredible café culture, part listing of my favorites.
- Eat—One of my very favorite recipes, the one that I’ve gotten the most requests for over the years, is buried in one of my very early posts. I thought that I would give it the proper treatment. It’s perfect for this time of year.
- Sundry Wonders—We shall see what gives me some wonder.
Until then, here are the posts from this week.
I hope your week was a better one. If it wasn’t, let me know. I am available for commiseration.
Never miss a post
