So much better
Happy Friday! How was your week?
It might be Friday the 13th, but my week was so much better that I’m celebrating. Everyone is officially healthy, and I’ve been freed from the confines of my bedroom. Hurrah! I also get to see dear friends this weekend, and I’m excited to see actual faces. Again, HURRAH!
I hope your week treated you even better.
Reading
What are you reading these days? I picked up an oldie but a goodie, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Have you read it? I’ve heard so much about this book over the years, but I’ve never read it. After reading an interview with Csikszentmihalyi that appeared in Stolen Focus, I decided that it was time to pick it up. I’m not that far into it, but so far, the global focus and the teasing out of what makes us feel most alive as humans fascinates me.
The reason why I’m interested in flow experiences, is because I am trying to become more intentional in my actions and to hone my focus this year. I wrote a bit about what I’m trying to do in the week’s Sundry Wonders post.
I’d love to hear what you think, if you’ve read it, or if you pick it up and start reading along.
Watching
Have you seen the trailer for Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret yet? OMG, I am so excited. Some friends and I took a trip down memory lane talking about that book—who got in trouble for reading it or other Judy Blume books (Forever got me in hot water), giggle fits over WE MUST! WE MUST!, and just reminiscing about that awkward time in life. One friend replied that she teared up a bit when she saw the preview.
Same, my friend. Same.
Upcoming
Here’s a sneak peek for the coming week!
- Eat—I still owe you the recipe from this week—I wanted to let things get back to normal around here before stealing the kitchen for filming a recipe.
- Travel—This week, I’m planning on a post about the importance of rest when we travel, and a bit about those crash days that can happen.
- Sundry Wonders—We’ll have a Sundry Wonders post as well.
Until then!
