Opened in 1872, Santiago’s historic Mercado Central is a must-visit for foodies. Famous for fish, you’ll find market stalls, food vendors, and little restaurants.
While Mercado Central is definitely more touristy, and you’ll find a lot of souvenirs here, but if you wander around the stalls outside the market, you’ll find authentic delights.
Know Before You Go
It can get really crowded. If you’re buying, be prepared for a bit of gruffness from the vendors. Take photos of the cute little restaurants, and eat somewhere else
