Funicular de Santiago

Head up Cerro San Cristóbal on a historic funicular

Absolutely Wonderful

Why You'll Love It

You know me. If there’s a funicular, I’m riding it, but this one is a good one! Opened in 1925, the station resembles a medieval tower, and the cute cars take you up into Santiago’s largest green space in style. From the top of Cerro San Cristóbal, you get a bird’s eye view of the city, cradled by the Andes mountains. Alas, you’ll also see the smog.
Once you’re at the top, be sure to make your way up to the top of Cerro San Cristóbal for even better views.

I recommend getting the combined ticket that takes you on the cable car as well. It makes for a really fun afternoon and a great way to orient yourself to Santiago.
