A week of slow, quiet walks; Ollie and I both needed to adjust to to the new time. Last year at this time, I had already left for New Hampshire, and I find myself disoriented with a season change I have not witnessed here before.

Loneliness this week, sadness for what we’ve lost. Shadows. Cracks. Emptiness.

Still, as the days grow warmer and the flowers continue to come up in unlikely places, I find moments of hope. I’m trying to recognize the gift that I’ve been given, time to slow down, to stroll. To admire the way ivy catches the light.

To spy reflections in the trees.
