Blooming and fading, blazing sun and bitter rain, coming out of hiding and needing rest. So much experience, so much out-in-the world, after so much stillness.

Between the extreme temperatures, and more exhaustion than I anticipated after a social schedule I didn’t do a whole heck of a lot on my mini-vacation (using up the last of my carryover days from last year).

In the end, a week of no Zooms (except for part one of a fantastic course with Atlas Obscura), walks when the weather worked, naps, and one lovely day of seeing friends, was just what the vacation gods ordered. I did some reading, including finally picking up Carl Honoré’s In Praise of Slowness. It seemed appropriate.

Around the neighborhood, flowers everywhere, in darkness and light. Blooming and fading.
