Slow meanders around the block last week. Ollie, whose energy has returned, did not understand our slow pace or short distances. To keep things interesting for him and for me, he got to sniff at will, and I tried to wring wonder from my very small world. Oak buds this week, and flowering trees. And, of course, new maple leaves. However, my biggest joy this week came from lilacs. We had a lilac bush in the backyard of my childhood home, and every spring, I would go out to greet the lilacs as they bloomed.
I tried to look upon it as a challenge, but we both very much look forward to tomorrow, when Ollie should be free of his Donut of Shame.
