Slow Productivity

Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout, by Cal Newport

This book isn’t for everyone, even the author acknowledges. Depending on your work, the recommendations that Newport makes for doing less, focusing on the quality of your work, and working at a more human pace just might not be possible. For now, at least.

What I liked about this book was that it didn’t chuck the idea of productivity out the window with the busy bathwater. We still want to accomplish. Indeed, Newport argues that his ideas can help us to produce more.

For me, the lesson of doing less and focusing more on quality than busy-ness is one of the great learnings of the last couple of years of my life. So, it was perfect for me. Something has to give with our busy culture, and I think that Newport is onto something. Recommended if you’re in a position to shake up how you work.
