Another day, another mass shooting in America
Last March, I wrote a post after two mass shootings took place within a week. I didn’t remember until I reread the post which shootings these were and had to read it again. That’s what I really have to say about gun violence in America.
As of last night, when I am writing this, 18 school children and a teacher were murdered in Uvalde, Texas.
Enough.
This is a solvable problem. We know exactly what we need to do, and we need to demand that our leaders enact gun reform.
The American people overwhelmingly support basic common-sense gun legislation, and yet Republicans in the Senate block any action. No matter who the victims are, even if they are elementary school children in the state they represent. They will do nothing to stop this, and if we allow Republicans to retain power in the Senate this year, we will continue to endure news like today.
News like last week.
News like the months and years before.
Enough.
Take action for gun control
I have a regular calendar appointment after last week’s mass shootings to call those who represent me to demand gun control. I wish that it didn’t have yet even more urgency.
If you are in the US, please join me. If you don’t already have your leaders on speed dial, call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.
If you can, please consider a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety.
This does not have to stand. But we need to stop it.
Enough.
