Marjan Hill

Take a break from the bustle of Split and wind your way up Marjan Hill for incredible views!

Absolutely Wonderful

The top of Marjan Hill in Split, Croatia

Why You'll Love It

Marjan Hill, part of Veli Varoš, but separated out here rises above the city of Split. It’s Split’s green space, with trails, forest, breathtaking views of the Adriatic. Dotted with medieval churches and a hermitage, taking the winding way as opposed to the popular stairs straight to the top yields delights.

Be sure to stop for a refreshing drink after your climb at the restaurant for incredible views of Split!

The Details

How To Get There

There are stairs leading from the Riva up to the viewpoint, but you can also wind your way up from Varoš (that’s how I found it). If mobility is an issue, it is possible to drive or get a taxi or Uber to the top of the hill. There’s also a little tourist trolley, but I didn’t take it.

Solo Female Travel

It’s always a good idea to take precautions when hiking alone, but, generally, this is a well-traveled area and you should have a lovely day.

Know Before You Go

Wear good shoes and sunscreen, and bring plenty of water, especially on hot, sunny days.
