Lisbon

Bairro Alto

Lively and eclectic!

Absolutely Wonderful

Rua dos Mouros

Why You'll Love It

I stayed in this lively and eclectic Lisbon neighborhood in a flat that I still dream about (castle views!). Known for being a bit of a party area, there are quieter (less noisy?) parts where you can experience Lisbon life as it’s lived.

The neighborhood itself has existed since the 1500s and was rebuilt following the earthquake. Wander through the narrow streets, duck into one of the many bars and restaurants, and revel with the weekend crowds.

How To Get There

For fun, take the Elevador da Glória from Rossio, but there are multiple ways to get here.

Solo Female Travel

Wandering these narrow little streets is what Lisbon is all about, and there are loads of little cafes and bars that welcome solo travelers.

Know Before You Go

Personally, I loved staying here, but I had a flat in one of the quieter streets, away from the main drag. If you require quiet for restful sleeping, I would stay elsewhere.
